What is the EGP?

Elite Genetics Program

The Elite Genetics Program was created to preserve and protect the qualitatively superior bloodlines. The main goal is to insure genetic diversity, within a healthy and disease-free or resistant breeding population. The inductees are genetically so valuable that they are preserved for the future. Not only do we encourage selective targeted breeding, but also the collection of sperm and embryos. Which we keep in the AOBA-ISDGS cryogenic tanks.

Within AOBA-ISDGS we independently determine which animals can be included in the EGP. We do not accept unsolicited proposals. We can select specific exceptional animals based on different characteristics and/or requirements.

This can be decided on the basis of eg;

  • Outstanding title winners (Best Year Vote, Competition winners and Champions)
  • Most disease resistance
  • Best sex ratio in offspring
  • Multiple births
  • Metrics testing
  • Rare bloodlines
  • Unique color varieties
  • Seize
  • Carcass characteristics & fleshing
  • Polled
  • ...

 All inductees are given the "(EGP)" abbreviation after their name in the studbook.
